Hello, my name is Colman Carpenter and I am the managing director of Four Lakes Consulting Ltd., an IT Consultancy based in the South-East of England. I have a few passions in my life:
- Family - I have a lovely, bright, successful wife and 2 occasionally manic young daughters.
- Technology - as you may have guessed from my career choice.
- Sport - I have played volleyball at the highest level in England, and now play a more sedate sport, namely golf.
- Food - I enjoy good food, and I enjoy creating good meals.
On a professional level, I have worked in the IT industry since emigrating from Ireland over 20 years ago. In my time I have progressed through such varied roles as Developer, Consultant, Team Leader, Database Manager, Project Manager, IT manager with platforms as diverse as IBM System 38, IBM AS/400, MS Windows and Lotus Notes & Domino. In February 2006 I took redundancy from my then employer and formed my own company.

Where we believe we differ from the average IT consultancy is that we offer our services within an Ethical IT framework. What is Ethical IT ? Essentially it is a commitment from Four Lakes to you, the customer, to operate in a manner that is considered fair and trustworthy. It’s very difficult to construct a list of measurable criteria to prove that we are ethical, so instead we make a simple promise.
“If you are not happy with any piece of work carried out by Four Lakes Consulting, then you will not be charged for it.“
No if’s, no but’s, no requirement to fill out a 28 page form (although we would appreciate an explanation so we learn from our mistake) and no invoice.
